Rebecca Halchuk, Ph.D., C. Psych

Rebecca provides psychological services to individuals and couples to address a variety of presenting concerns, including relationship distress, depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions and self-esteem. She works with an attitude of openness, respect and acceptance towards clients, and builds therapeutic relationships based on connection, understanding and collaboration. 

 

Rebecca has experience and training in a number of different psychotherapeutic approaches including Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT), interpersonal, experiential, and cognitive-behavioural therapy. She is able to understand client issues from a variety of perspectives and works comfortably with emotions, thoughts and behaviours.

 

Rebecca joined the OCFI after completing her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. Her clinical experience comes from working at the Centre for Psychological Services at the University of Ottawa, the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group, the Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma, the Elizabeth Bruyère Hospital, and the Counselling Centre at the University of Manitoba. Her doctoral research focused on examining the neural changes associated with EFT for couples using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
