Mélanie Joanisse, Ph.D., C. Psych.

Melanie completed her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Ottawa. She is a bilingual therapist who provides services to adult individuals and couples experiencing a wide range of concerns. Her main interests include anxiety and mood disorders, relationship difficulties, adjustment to chronic illnesses, trauma, grief and bereavement, poor self-esteem, as well as adult developmental transitions.

 

Melanie uses an integrated approach to psychotherapy based on her training in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT), as well as experiential, interpersonal and cognitive-behavioural approaches. She believes that being well versed in different treatment modalities help her adapt to her clients’ specific needs.  Melanie’s warmth, compassion, and sense of humour help her create strong therapeutic alliances with her clients. Her human approach to emotional, cognitive, and behavioural difficulties ensure a collaborative experience with her clients.

 

Melanie also currently works at the ambulatory services of the Montfort Hospital, and in primary care at the Clarence-Rockland Family Health Team. Additionally, she is a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa and clinical supervisor at the Centre for Psychological Services and Research, where she supervises the work of Ph.D. students in the Clinical Psychology Program.
